Plentzia and Placentia of Newfoundland meet again after 500 years

The Mayor of Placentia (Canada) Wayne Power has visited our village in order to set the details of the twinning protocol between the two municipalities. A cherished project from years ago will finally be a reality. The agreement for the cooperation is based on historic relationships, which link both villages since at least the beginnings of XVI century, when fishermen and whalers from Plentzia (and basques, in general) sailed the shores of Newfoundland in search of the cod and whale.
